Almost missed!

Oh, SHIT!! Time for another Taborri Walker column, and despite the reminder, I blew past it while doing other things yesterday, like taking my Seward BF, Nancy Buck and her husband Lowell to the Texas Roadhouse restaurant to celebrate Nancy’s just past birthday. Her bestie in Palmer took her to the fair the day before to see BILLY IDOL live! Lucky girls!! Nancy showed me some video of it. He sure looks good for as old as he is. Then yesterday the 5th, they got me, we went to the Red Apple store in the area where I got her from fresh okra – it was in packages and expensive, buy hey… I’ve got some food stamps – and two avocadoes. I wanted to get her some pickled okra too, but they were out, so couldn’t. After that we went to the restaurant. While we waited, Nancy tried to get my phone to do notifications for text messages but it didn’t work. I’ll try my company tomorrow, since most everything is closed today for Labor Day. Anyhoo, Nancy loves catfish, so she got the four-piece meal with a baked sweet potato and side salad. Always the four piece so she can take three home for other days. From the other two times we’ve done this, she always eats the sweet potato and salad first as she won’t eat them as leftovers. (We had to explain this to Lowell, this was his first time along, LOL.) I always enjoy this celebration, and one day I will get her on the saddle to the happy birthday yell!! Tried again, but it’s her choice and she always says no. One day… one day. I’ll get her.

For the Hooks side of my little business, I finished a couple projects for me. They are wall hangings with words and nice borders. They say, 1. Give Peace a chance. 2. Fuck. 3. Shit. 4. Damn. 5. Hell. 6. Go Fuck Yourself and lastly, 7. Love Yourself. Each one will get ironed out to a shinier finish, put on dowels with a nice light chain for hanging from Command hooks in my new apartment, IF I can ever get one in the area I want! They’ll hang in a grouping on one wall. I’m also working on an order for a friend in Oregon. Two hats and a pair of actual crocheted gloves! It’s my first time trying that and it ain’t easy, but they’re turning out so far. It’s with a tiny hook, so I’m very slow at it. Hate tiny hooks. Also making a set for gender male, a hat, scarf and pair of mittens for sale together of the same color yarn, a dark burgundy with tiny flecks of different colors scattered throughout. Looks very nice so far! If there’s something you want for yourself or someone you care about as a gift, message me on FB to Patti Lisenbee. My FB icon is a hand with middle finger up, telling the world how I feel about life thus far, LOL. Can’t miss it! I can make what you want in the design you choose in the color/s you choose as well! You may think prices are a bit expensive, but hey… you’re getting a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with a six-month guarantee on it. Almost all the pieces are machine wash and dryable!

For the Books side, I’ve been struggling lately to write, probably because of some traumatic anniversaries in August and this month too, along with foul weather. Rain, rain, more rain, cooling down, a touch of sun here and there and back to cloudy and cool. (The temperature blanket I’m making is reflecting the temp drops by the colors I put it and darn, it’s showing.) Down to the low 60’s F and even the 50’s. Back to freezing feet and blankets at night as well, so it’s slowing me down more. BUT – I’m still reading intensely, and when something strikes me that I can start a new story for or segue into an existing, unpublished tale, I send the part to my email and then put it in a document. Got a lot of ideas that way. Even tho I have the TV on all day, I usually don’t focus on it more than an occasional glance up, but sometimes ideas come to me from there as well, so I put them down too. And I’m making myself do a bit of writing, and I’m hoping to feel better soon and get back to writing for a few hours a day.

As to published books, THE LONG TRIP HOME is stalled while the cover is being readjusted. Some of the artwork would get cut off when they print it up, so it has to be revised. I’ll try sending a message tomorrow to my steady artist to see when it will get done. I’m really eager to get the paperback underway. The eBook is already out, so you can go to Amazon to get it! Remember, my author name is Taborri Walker, so put the title and the name in the search bar for easy finding. Whoever does buy it and read it, I’d appreciate a review, either way! Reviews are how we grow our audiences, and I’d love mine to jet up!!

I think this is all for this month, so a shorter column than usual… just remember, I cherish all of you! Friends are the family you make for yourself, they say, so it that is true I’ve got a friggen large family! I hope your holiday was a good one, and for those of you already counting down to Christmas – STOP IT!! It’ll come soon enough, enjoy all the days up to it!! HUGS TO ALL!!
