From the pen of Taborri Walker, March 2021

I’m sitting here munching on Ritz crackers and soft cream cheese, waiting for my ride to come to take me to get my new glasses. The script is stronger, I would have loved to get the glasses that darken when there’s a lot of light but I couldn’t afford it. I think I’m going to find the clear or tinted thin plastic that clings to windows and try that on my lenses. Anything to cut some of the light down. While I’m glad that we’re having a bit of warmth when the sun is out, I hate light as it’s a migraine trigger. It’s really bright today and I need to go out, so here’s hoping the shots for migraines I took yesterday will prevent it from happening.

First off, my health… I had an MRI of the head yesterday. Don’t know how long it will take to get the results back, of course, I’m rooting for nothing wrong there at all. But the symptoms I’m having have to have some kind of reason, I hope. Finding that would help me decide on a course of action for what remains of my life. Oh, I do have a sort of one now, it’s “get through every day as best as I can.” I don’t always get actual writing done, but I am editing the novels again, even though they’re published. I’d been alternating putting in numbers “he was 4 going on forty” and also in writing. A woman who edited the newest story I published pointed this out to me, so I’m changing almost every number to the word form, except for things like years, really large numbers, stuff like that. But back to health… I’m on an opioid for pain, and while I’m not addicted, I don’t want to be on them steadily much longer. I’ve gotten off these meds before, with no problem – no withdrawal symptoms – and I’m sure I can again. I’ve been accepted into a study of an implant that would deliver the pain meds right to the source of my pain, my back. (there’s the alarm to get ready to go!) (It’s now hours later after I got back. Distraction is terrible!) Anyway, I was offered a place in the study, which would deliver a dose of morphine right to the site of pain in my back. I was accepted, but there will be a trial of course, to ensure I tolerate the meds. Don’t want to get it installed only to have an allergic reaction. Don’t know what that is yet. Crossing my fingers that I’ll be fine and can get off the opioids! As to the rest of my health, well, I’m slowly sliding downhill. Still fighting to at least stay where I am.

And then there’s the writing. I wrote another short story, this time asking a Facebook friend if I could put him in as a character, and he said yes. I got some facts about himself, then put him in the tale. I was waiting for him to finish reading it, he did, and he liked how I used him. That makes me soooo very happy! And I’m working on another short story now, so far with no real characters. We’ll see as it goes on. If you would like to be a character, PM me at Patti Lisenbee on FB. I’m in Anchorage AK. I’m the only one here, although there is another account of me but it was one that got hacked and I can’t shut it down, I’ve tried. You’ll know the real me by my icon, the neat drawing of a middle finger up. It relates my feelings about my life through the last many months of 2020, and starting this year too. Let me know if you want yourself or someone you’ve lost, to become a character. I can’t guarantee what they’ll turn into, but it will probably be interesting.

As to the full–length novels, I’m running through them at high speed, correcting something I didn’t realize I was doing. One, was I’m using the word “so” way too much, so it’s getting clipped and a different word if it works, otherwise just deleting it. Two, and I don’t know how I started doing it, is writing the number as a digit, like I pointed out above. That’s why I’m fixing it. Damn my memory! I even read what I wrote and didn’t pick up on it. I’ve got to get back to work on number ten of the Earth Maid series, about the very first Thread, or, as I call them in the series, the Rune Witch. Yes, a man can be a witch. Don’t’ call men Warlocks, as those types of magick users have broken with their coven, always committing a crime. These people, these Warlocks, are criminals. They use magick for their own gain, not caring who they hurt, whose lives they destroy, even to lives lost. Just plain ol’ bad dudes all the way around. A male Witch is just a Witch, just like a woman. Anyhoo, in the tenth story, you get a good look into the culture and lives of people living in… Atlantis. Before it sank! Before it destroyed itself, and you get a different story of why it sank. There, now that I’ve put in spoilers, I need to get back to work on it. And I will, hopefully before the middle of the year.

I’m truly glad I have friends like all of you out there. We may not agree on things religious or political, but I treasure each of you. Wish I could meet you all! It would be great to get a face-to-face and see what you’re like in your lives. I guess we could say “if wishes were horses, beggars would ride,” right? Or we could wish for Aunt Elsa’s Bag entrance to the Forth dimensional pocket to be real! (Another spoiler… buy Earth Maid: The Thread Is Found to learn about that. It’s not very expensive at all. Less than four dollars.

Lastly, my new webpage. It’s called Books & Hooks. With the ampersand, NOT the word. I’m still trying to figure it out. The books part you all know of, what I write. I’ll provide links to Amazon to purchase my writings. The Hooks is my crochet hook! I’m into crocheting for YOU, for what you want how you want, the style you want, the color you want. I can do almost anything you want, but I recommend you buy the smaller items. You’ll get a unique gift that no one else has. Yes, others crochet for sale, but the chance of the same pattern and color being made for someone you know is pretty small. These are also great gifts for anyone you want to give to. I can mail it to you or I can mail it to who you want to gift it to, with a note from me inside it, telling why they’re getting it. Think about it, and if you’re interested now, PM me, ok? We’ll work out the details. I do require half down upfront, non-refundable because I’m making the project then. I don’t think it’s fair to be out the cost of yarn and my wasted time working on it, don’t you? It kind of makes sure you finish the purchase. I let you know when I’m mailing it and an approximate shipping cost. If I was rich enough, I’d pay for that, but I’m not. Even shipping costs overseas aren’t entirely horrible for a hat, scarf, etc. Just pop it in an envelope and off it goes to a not too bad cost. Not only am I able to crochet, but maybe make a little money on the side.

This will be all for now… I’ll post it tomorrow morning. It’s almost time to kick back and read for a bit before taking meds and trying to sleep. Love to all of you, lots of hugs! Lots and LOTS of hugs!
